In celebration of International Women’s Day today, we want to honor the amazing and inspiring women across the Fictiv team, each helping to make hardware more efficient everyday. International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the achievements of women, and a call to action for gender parity.

Learn a bit about the women powering Fictiv below:

Meghan “Shoes” Baciu, Multimedia

What I love most about the work that I do:

Having the creative freedom to expose people that breathe passion.

Tool I can’t live without:

I love a good 50mm

Superpower I wish I had:

Shapeshifting

Kathleen “Kat” Lopez, Engineering

What do you love most about the work that you do?

There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned in programming and I love translating that into amazing user experiences for our customers!

Tool I can’t live without:

My weapon of choice is definitely Sublime Text 3! This text editor has been my trusty steed from the very beginning. I love its simplicity but at the same time its ability to level up developer experience through customization

Superpower I wish I had:

Space and time manipulation! I’d love to explore all sorts of different timelines.

Madelynn Martiniere, Community

What do you love most about the work that you do?

I view my work as akin to being a facilitator—seeing people come together to do impactful work brings me great joy everyday. I’m constantly in awe of the ingenuity of engineers and designers, and I build communities because I believe that people are stronger together than alone.

Tool I can’t live without:

Sugru has displaced Duct Tape as my most used tool. I use it to fix everything.

Superpower I wish I had:

I would love to be able to breathe underwater. Scuba diving comes close, but too many time limits.

Erin Veneziano, Operations

What do you love most about the work that you do?

Working with truly collaborative people that aren’t afraid to ask more questions than provide a glut of answers. I like working with people that would rather try and fail than never try at all.

Tool I can’t live without:

Having owned many exotic motorcycles, I can’t live without my drive star bit socket set, a 46mm Rear Axle nut socket tool, and a spring puller. I can’t just pick one!

Superpower I wish I had:

I’d like to be able to bounce. I seem to have lost that superpower at 30.

Sylvia Wu, Manufacturing

What do you love most about the work that you do?

I love helping engineers design more cost effectively for manufacturing. Since I joined Fictiv, I’ve really come to appreciate DFM in a whole new light. I’m learning new nuances about different manufacturing technologies everyday, especially in 3D printing.

Tool I can’t live without:

These days, I can’t live without OnShape.

Superpower I wish I had:

I’m going to have to go with Hardware Report’s #1 answer here… time travel! I want to try pre-Columbian exchange Italian cuisine.

Ina Xi, Design

What do you love most about the work that you do?

Solving all kinds of problems from system design to iconography!

Tool I can’t live without:

Sharpie and post-its!

Superpower I wish I had:

Walking on the water (How poetic! Also because I’m a bad swimmer).

Shoutout to two other amazing women on the Fictiv team – Christine Evans (Content) and Ira Massey (Logistics) – who were unavailable to be interviewed for this article.
